The Kitchen

A celebration of food for the soul

The Kitchen

@ LSX

The Kitchen @ LSX  sources fresh, seasonal produce from our local farmer’s markets,  local growers and regional suppliers.

Ingredients are respected. Preparation has dignity.  Emphasis is on taste, wholesomeness and nourishment.

Warm from the oven, the aromas add to the homely and inviting atmosphere at LSX.

Sharing of food at communal tables fosters exchange and genuine friendships. We contribute to the well-being of the community by supporting social enterprise, employing locals, and facilitating ‘inclusive’ social activities. Contact us for function bookings, menus and price list.

Foodsmith, Author & Artist

Kate is a highly regarded designer, artist, foodsmith and entrepreneur. She joins LSX as Café and Events Manager after many years running the iconic Benedict House – a historic building housing a painting / jewellery studio, bead shop and café, and located in a former girls boarding school and convent in Queanbeyan.

Kate’s artisanship and foodsmithing has resulted in the creation of an exciting cuisine – a fusion of art, flavour and wholesome delight. The creative cuisine that she developed at Benedict House occupies a central place in her recipe book and memoir Love of a Laminex Table – A Sustainable Food Journey”. Her recipes remain faithful to the spirit a preparing food on a remote self-sufficient Australian farming property – where ingredients were limited by the season and innovation was essential. Kate also paints and designs jewellery from her studio at Abbotsford Convent.
